The following report, taken from the supporters/prayer letter of new Grace Brethren Canadian church planter Bill Walker, gives the flavor of activities during the recent Explorers Week, held August 7-12.(Bill Walker photo)
On the heels of the Grace Brethren Equip05 National Conference we headed right back home to help out with Explorers Week. This proved to be a very profitable week.
About 100 adults and children came to give their time and energy to Team Canada. They delivered 20,000 brochures and held car washes and park programs throughout the week. The Grand Finale was Friday evening’s CentrumFest, held from 4 to 9 p.m. on the same property as the AMC Theatre, where Real Life meets every Sunday.
Thanks to all the publicity done by these families, we saw about 1,500 people that night. They came with strollers and lots of little children, all prepared to enjoy the FREE games, cotton candy, pony rides, and inflatable rides.
Friday was a very rainy day. The rain was on and off in the afternoon, with a great downpour beginning at 3:30. That lasted until 3:50, and then we didn’t see any rain again. God really blessed our evening.
We pray that Rob, pastor of Real Life, will continue to see the impact of that week in the community he is trying to reach for Christ.
