Grace Church of Orange, California (Mike Sciarra pastor) and the Operation Barnabas team ministering there were recently featured in the Orange County Register newspaper. Here is a short excerpt–to see the entire article click here.
The Grace Church congregation members recently held Serve Day, assisting 17 seniors and disabled individuals with yardwork, house cleaning and minor repairs.
The event sent 70 congregation members into the community. Thirty-five high school students and their supervisors from Operation Barnabas Team also volunteered. Operation members spend their summer traveling nationally to help churches and communities.
Participants patched leaky roofs; painted roof trim and inside woodwork; vacuumed; dusted; cleaned kitchens and bathrooms; trimmed hedges, bushes and trees; repaired kitchen drawers and leaky faucets; replaced showerheads; installed thermostats; repaired porches and stairs; hauled trash; and also cleaned up the Santiago Creek area west of Hart Park.
“It was a very exhausting, fulfilling day for each of the participants. We will do this again,” said Pastor Mike Sciarra.
