Seminary OT Professor Has Article Published

Mar 6, 2007

Dr. Bernon Lee (pictured), assistant professor of Old Testament in the Department of Religious Studies of Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, Indiana, has published his essay, “Diachrony and Exegesis: Reading Exodus 21:18-27.”

The point of the essay is how to interpret specific regulations in the law code of the Old Testament, in this case, if there is a quarrel between two people with one striking the other with a fist or a stone. What must the guilty party pay for the other’s loss of time and healing? And how are the consequences different if the injured party is a slave?

The article is published in From Babel to Babylon:Essays on Biblical History and Literature in Honour of Brian Peckham. Edited by J.Rilett-Wood, J. E. Harvey, and M. Leuchter. Library of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament Studies 455. New York/London: T & T Clark, 2006.
